General overview
Network Architecture
The Luxembourg site is built over two central network components:
- A Core Layer 2 / 3 switch of type Cisco Nexus 93240YC-FX2. This switch is connecting:
- Renater backbone via a GÉANT L2VPN 10GbE link
- Kirchberg campus via a RESTENA L2 10GbE link
- All network switches, using redundant 10GbE or 100GbE links.
- the NFS server (srv-data2.luxembourg), using redundant 100GbE links
- the 2 virtualization server (pve-1.luxembourg and pve-2.luxembourg), using redundant 10GbE links.
- A Core Layer 2 switch of type Cisco Catalyst 6506E for the Kirchberg campus, connecting the petitprince cluster.
The Kirchberg network (and petitprince) can be seen in the section History and will be eventually decommissioned.
Connectivity to Grid'5000
The connectivity to Grid'5000 is managed by the RESTENA foundation in collaboration with Renater through a GÉANT L2VPN link. Luxembourg is connected to the Grid'5000 backbone in Paris. See Global network map.
History
The site used to be hosted primarily on the Kirchberg campus from 2011 to 2024. This diagram describes the old network topology.
